Crunch..Crunch
The odd padding on the floor
Faster
Faster
Faster!

Snap...

Her audits sprung High, her facial features, growing into a sure sign of worry.. that wasn't her, surely, she never felt the twig under her hoof, and her hooves, as being young were still delicate to the floor beneath her, she definately would not of...

snap..

What? Surely no-one's out here, she thought, her pure azule pools darting side to side, her neck arched, twisting to gaze over the tall blades of grass...
It was the snapping of a twig, no doubt about it, something.. big.. muscular..

As young as she was, this young equine knew exactly what to listen for to sense danger, she had wandered around, in search of a nice patch of luscious green, but maybe she went out too far.. she couldnt recall this scenery... where was she??

She began trotting again, deciding to trot on the thick grass rather than the forest foilage, so next time she heard the snap, it would definately not be her imagination. Her tiny form wriggled as she marched on, continuously, still gazing at the ground, licking her tiny maw, nares flaring, searching for that one strand of perfect grass.

The sun beat hard on her pelt, beads of sweat rolled down her hide, but was it because she was scared?
No... nothing could scare her, she speant time with the boys of the herd, they taught her to fear nothing...
She sighed heavily, then put on a brave facade to hide the concerned look.
Marching forward, oh so steadily, her heartbeat almost matching her pace, like a dance.

SNAP!!

She halted quickly, skidding amongst the dew covered grass, almost losing her balance.. a short whinny of fright emerged from her lips.
Her ivories chattered.
The footsteps came closer.
A sudden howl caused her to leap almost an entire foot in the air, she stumbled backwards, losing her feet, she tumbled to the ground, and closed her eyes, wishing it was only one of her friends, fooling with her.

She'd have a field day if it was..

A long trail of saliva dangled above her cranium, that was tucked into her front legs, hiding from whatever was lurking out in the forests this morning.
The saliva hung for a moment, then dropped onto the tip of her audit, causing it to flicker, and causing the young filly to quiver with fear.

The wolf grinned, his toothy maw extending, his gums raising, menacing fangs glinting in the soft sun.
His pelt quivered and blew in the wind, then the wind grew harder, faster...
The wolf looked up slowly, making sure the filly never moved, only peering down every so often.
His audits pinned to the back of his head, his grin suddenly changing into what seemed like a whimpered look of confusion and fright.
The reflection in the wolf's eyes showed the skies, not what it usually was however, but the skies were dark, menacing...
The wolf backed away slowly, as the black swirl of dark clouds seemed to come ever so closer. Then he bolted, stretched out his muscular pistons and ran for it.

The filly heard the wolf's whimpering, surely nothing was there, but then again, what could frighten off a fully grown wolf?
The filly slowly raised her head, only to gasp with fright.
A beam of light scattered the clouds, the filly gazed, stuck to the ground, awe struck by what was happening.

A sure sillhouette of a horse was galloping in the light of the clouds, then the light horse stopped, turned his crania and gazed down as if he was some God, looking down on the earth.

He smiled, not an evil smile, a smile of warmth.
The filly looked puzzled, she thingyed her head to one side.
She neighed her warnings, as if to say "what do you want?!" but the light horse, the spirit? just whispered a language that she could not understand, not a neigh, not a whinny, but it was speech...

Then the clouds dispersed to their origional state, after them odd seconds of silence. The filly shivered, she had no idea what was happening, why that spirit came down here this day, why it happened to her...

She returned home just minutes afterwards, she retrieved her bearings after wandering a bit more, then finding her herd.
She spotted her mother just a few metres away, grazing on the dried grass.
"Mother!!" She shouted, but her mother never raised her head to look at her, just ignoring her.
The filly ran towards her mother, then finally, she noticed her own daughter standing beside her.
Her mother neighed, but the filly didn't understand, she raised her brow.
Her mother neighed again, a look of concern now entering her features.
Whats happening? why can't i understand what she is saying??!

A tear rolled down her cheeks, then more welled up in the ducts of her blue eyes.

Her mother neighed, and neighed, a face full of worry, she had no idea what was going on, why her daughter wasnt answering, why she didnt seem to understand.
"mother.." She knew saying it wouldnt work, then finally, it hit her..

the spirit..

It gave her the gift of speech, aswell as one other, but a colt.
she couldnt understand the normal horse language that she used to speak...

Years later, the filly, which now became a fully grown mare wandered the lands, she ran from home, her family, her herd, having to fend for herself, she was alone.. or so she thought.
Her auds pricked to full height, did she hear someone??
A glimmer of hope lit up her features, she could only hear and understand one language, and that was the one she spoke, so if she heard something.. then surely someone else could speak that language too!!

She ran, two beating across the lands, yelling, asking for the one who called.
A shadow emerged from the shadow of the trees, he came slowly forwards, spotting the mare.
"who are you?" He said, also hoping she could speak the same as he did.
"I am Shae.." She replied, smiling as she now was not alone.

Another year passed, Shae and the stallion that she met, named Relon grown to like eachother, they talked about their beloved families, talked of how they encounted the horse spirit.. talked of how they had to leave their herds, how hard it was to be alone, but now, Shae and Relon, found love. The moment he gazed apon her beautiful eyes, it was love.

They formed their own herd, them two breeding youngsters that could also speak the language, finding others far from distant lands, thinking that they were alone, but soon to realise they were far from it.
They formed an enormous herd, stallions, mares, fillies and colts alike.

There were so many that encountered the spirit, some declined to join, and made a seperate herd, finding others, Relon was disgusted with the fact they didnt like them, He and his herd classed the spirit as one of hope, of a new era. But arguments struck, three seperate herds formed, there were ones that had nasty attitudes, they were born that way, they despised the fact that Relon and Shae, and their herd were glad this happened, no, they think it was a curse, a curse that an evil god laid upon them, to seperate them from their families, and homes, testing them, testing to see if they could survive.

They grew to hate Relon and his herd...
